I have a question that troubles me a while now and I would like to share it with you.
I believe that the photography shouldn’t need a text to be explained, except if the concept of the photographer implicates it. If we exclude the concept and what a photographer really communicates through his image …my question is this : Should a photography provide to the spectator information concerning the way that she was made? I’m referring to the fact that an image can be digital or not. And how could this be, without the use of a text?
Before digital technology, the full frame image was a kind of certification. Unfortunately, since the arrival of digital photography, the image cannot tell by her own how she is made. At first some people were trying to distinguish the grain of the film on the print, but to try to do that it means that you look the photography up closer, trying to find out something that maybe in now days cannot be distinguished. For me it is very important the fact that I take my pictures with a film camera, it does not give a greater value to my images but it has something to say about what I was searching for, about the process that I followed, and eventually about the "history" of my photographs. This information, in my opinion, does not give a "greater" value to the photography, but it gives a "different" value in it. Even if I was taking my pictures with a digital camera I would have the wish to declare it somehow.
How do you feel about this?
Thank you for listening to me.
p.s. you’re welcome simos.

Oooh, good one - I finally had a chance to look. These are my faves: Paris Petridis' Cairo billboards, Jonnek Jonneksson's moto foto, Jorge Saenz's phone pics, Sophia Vourdoukis' earth series, Jordan Tate's blurs, Georgios Makkas' post-riot shots, the third pic in Alex Lockett's "Are we there yet? and Fragitsa Katogiritis' Virginia water girl. Well done Simos, you have a good eye!

The best issue so far! Until now, sometimes I did pass by certain images and works. Maybe I was not so interested in them all, maybe they were not 'tied' that well together.
This issue seemed to have clear focus on what it wished to project. Its 'image' was complete. I stopped to look carefully at every image, to read every note and comment.
I was surprised, impressed and satisfied. Again, maybe it was just me, but I feel now a path is created. I look forward to taking it in every issue and, if I can, to also contribute.
congratulations and good luck!
D.
P.S.: if I may add, eutimio,
no technical info, we have enough of that, let us have some imagination realised, no matter how it was done, it is the imagination that leads us to creation, not the technology...

eutimio there’s no need for aggression. I believe that the existence of Wip is a wonderful opportunity for us to have interesting discussions on photography.
Thank you for your answer.
I would also like to say that I really admire the work of Mr. S.Saltiel. His photographs always create in me the same sentiment of “sodade” as they say in Brasil, and maybe thimisis (θύμησης) as they say in Greece. They reveal for me a window, not to a view but to that sentiment of mine.

I didn’t use the word exceptional but nevertheless, a photograph is considered art-work when that work can justfully seize the space creating silence. In this wip issue I came across to some photo images that overtook and surprised me. For those few seconds that time froze and senses erected losing the reality connection, just then, I felt that space was rightful taken. (happy now ? )
